Travelling to Bologna

How to get to Bologna?

Bologna has an international airport (BLQ), so you can fly directly from Australia or London.

Alternatively, you can fly to Milan (MXP) and take the train directly to the centre of Bologna.

If you arrive at Bologna airport, we recommend taking a taxi to the city centre as Uber is not widely used. The journey is approximately 15 minutes, and most taxi drivers speak English.

If you're travelling to Bologna from another city in Italy, we recommend taking the train. It's much easier, safer, and economical, and you may also get a beautiful view of the Italian countryside on your way! The train station in Bologna is only a short walk into the city centre.

How to get around Bologna?

Bologna is a medieval walled city, called “Cerchia del Mille” or "Ring of the Millennium” constructed in the year 1,000, so we suggest staying in the city centre without hiring a car and enjoying the city on foot.

Cars cannot be driven into the city centre, and several roads are pedestrian-only.

If you'd like to take day trips, the train station is very central, and many beautiful places are just a short train ride away.

Uber is not widely used, but the taxi service is great. You can order a taxi through your accommodation/hotel as needed, or several taxi stations are around the city.

How to get to the wedding venue on June 21?

We have organised transport services to and from the wedding venue for those travelling from abroad and staying in the city centre.

We will collect exact numbers for the transfers and provide details regarding pick-up time and location closer to the big day. Pick-up will likely be around 15.15 (i.e. 3.15 pm) just outside the walled city centre, so you will need to walk to this location as the buses cannot get inside the city. The buses will depart from the wedding venue around 1.00 am and drop guests at the same pickup spot for you to walk safely back to your accommodations.

We recommend pre-booking a taxi if you're staying outside the city centre or want to leave the venue before 1/1.30 am.
